WATCH: How Weighted Blankets Work
In a recent report from Mayo Clinic, Dr. Adam Perlman, Director of Integrative Health and Wellbeing Mayo Clinic Florida, remarks that small clinical trials "have shown that people who use weighted blankets do report better sleep." He states, "They report less stress and anxiety, and there's even one small study where they reported less pain."
Perlman explains that when you use a weighted blanket "you get a surge of feel-good hormones, such as oxytocin, through the decrease of cortisol which is sort of our stress hormone." These neurotransmitters are what really affect your mood.
